Sofia Film Fest 2025

Sofia Film Fest 2025 will take place between March 13 and 31 in the capital, offering audiences over 170 feature-length fiction, documentary, and animated films, as well as 20 short films from 58 countries. While the festival’s main events will be held in Sofia, editions will also take place in Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas.

Special Guests & Highlights

This year’s edition will have a special focus on Bulgarian cinema, featuring over 60 local films—fiction, documentaries, and shorts. The festival will also welcome renowned directors and actors, including Danis Tanović, Konstantin Bojanov, Uberto Pasolini, and Patricia Mazuy.

Key competitive sections include:

International Competition – featuring debut and sophomore films by emerging directors.
Balkan Competition – showcasing the 12 best films from the region.
Documentary Competition – presenting films from Sundance, Berlinale, Toronto, and other prestigious festivals.
TEEN Competition – a special selection for young audiences.

Sofia Meetings – For Industry Professionals

Between March 19 and 30, Sofia Meetings will take place—one of the most significant film industry events in the region. It collaborates with leading film forums such as Cannes Marché/Producers Network, CineMart, Locarno Pro, and San Sebastian Industry. The event will bring together producers, distributors, and directors presenting new projects for films and series.

Screenings will be held in cinemas across Sofia, as well as online via Neterra.tv/plus, allowing audiences across the country to participate in the event.
