FEEL HER TEARS
A Multimedia Exhibition Exploring the Accumulation of Sorrow Through
Historical Events from 1944 to 2024
The multimedia exhibition FEEL HER TEARS will be presented on March 21 at 18:30 in the Raiko Alexiev Hall.
This original project, created by Veselin Zografov and his collaborators, delves into the theme of sorrow, refracted through historical events—from the murder of Raiko Alexiev in 1944 to the present day. The content is presented through a concept that combines modern technology with various artistic media.
At the heart of the exhibition stands the sculpture Pietà in Decay, presented at a 1:2 scale. Using 3D scanning, modeling, and printing technology, the figures of Neda Spasova and Leonid Yovchev come to life within a structure that creates tension between stability and fragility, between memory and disintegration. The work places the viewer in the realm of divergence—between generations, understandings, perspectives, and actions. Decay is not merely destruction—it is a means of exposing the layers of meaning. Pietà in Decay does not offer answers; rather, it demands conscious presence.
How do we preserve what we have inherited?
What do we lose?
Do the directions we choose bring us together or drive us apart?
What values do we leave behind?
The project has been realized in partnership with the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The texts accompanying the historical moments, the result of a collaboration between Veselin Zografov and Professor Evelina Kelbecheva, present 30 selected events from 1944 to 2024. Visitors will encounter pivotal moments such as:
- 1944 – Raiko Alexiev and His Murder
- Nationalization and Collectivization
- The Transfer of Bulgaria’s Gold Reserves to the USSR
- Bulgaria’s Chernobyl
- Andrey Lukanov and His Governance
- Privatization
- Lustration
- The Creation of Armed Groups by State Security Agents and Generals
… and more.
The historical events are presented through visual information panels, featuring archival images provided by the State Archives, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), and the National Library “St. Cyril and St. Methodius”.
The exhibition aims to immerse visitors in an internal dialogue by prompting them to reflect on their own knowledge, understandings, and memories, seeking to foster a sense of belonging and empathy toward their surroundings. Through the historical narratives presented, in the silence of interconnections, a fundamental question arises:
Where do we stand today, and how do we function as a social organism?
In TASTE HER TEARS, the analog and digital go hand in hand, serving as a natural continuation of the world around us. The facts presented stem from the need for reflection on historical existence and its awareness.
