Twelve prominent Bulgarian creators were honored with the prestigious title “Bulgarian Ambassador of Culture 2024” at a ceremonial event held at the Marble Foyer of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR). The awards are part of the “Bulgarian Ambassadors of Culture” initiative, which aims to recognize artists whose work crosses national borders and strengthens Bulgaria’s cultural identity on the world stage. The recipients were selected based on audience nominations from BNR listeners and chosen by an expert jury. Each awardee received a specially crafted plaque by artist Stefan Velev, symbolizing appreciation for their contribution to Bulgarian culture. BNR
The list of honorees includes distinguished figures from various cultural fields — from music and literature to visual arts and philosophy. Among them are violinist Prof. Evgeniy Shevkenov, writer and playwright Stefan Tsanev, artist Nikolay Yanakiev, philosopher Prof. Georgi Kapriev, essayist Ivan Landzhev, translator Milena Selimi, and the musical trio Vladigerovi. The ceremony was attended by representatives from cultural institutions, public figures, and diplomats, including the Deputy Minister of Culture, a member of the Council for Electronic Media, and the Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio.
