The BHRA Handed Over its Annual Awards

IMG_0587The most prestigious awards in the tourism sector were distributed by the Bulgarian Hotel & Restaurant Association. The achievements in 22 categories were rewarded for the 13th time.

The Government of Russia received the Largest Foreign Investment in the tourist business in Bulgaria. This government is the owner of the Kamchia Sanitary & Healing Complex. The company’s stock is worth BGN 122.2 M and is wholly owned by Russia.

In spite of the crisis, tourism remains profitable. This is what reported in his address Traicho Traikov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism: instead of the expected drop of revenues in the sector, a 1.3% growth is reported by the end of October.

Dedeman Princess‑Sofia deserved two awards‑ for a congressional tourism hotel of 2009 and a special award of the Municipality of Sofia for the most Sofia stays booked. The Dedeman chain has put aside €10 mln. to lease hotels on the seashore and in Bansko. The bank with particular merits for the sector is Raiffeisen.

In the “Five-Star City Hotel of 2009” category, the award went to the Grand Hotel Dimyat in Varna, and the laureate, as a “Five-Star Resort Hotel of 2009” is the Melia Grand Hermitage in the Golden Sands resort. Prizewinners were also the SPA Hotel Persenk‑Devin (as a balneological hotel), Hotel Glazne‑Bansko (as a boutique hotel), and Charlino Plaza‑Rousse (as a best family hotel).

Emil Tzankov, Mayor of Belogradchik, received an award, too ‑ for the most productive cooperation with a municipality in the area of tourism. “We have yet to build over the foundations, because the region is really interesting. We’re also seeking an international significance of what we do”, said the Mayor.
