Apollonia 2025

From 28 August to 6 September, the ancient town of Sozopol once again transforms into a vibrant cultural stage of the highest artistic caliber. In its 41st edition, the Apollonia Festival will present more than 70 events, encompassing theatre, music, cinema, literature, dance, and visual arts.

Official Opening – 29 August at 8:30 PM at the Apollonia Amphitheatre, featuring the Big Band of the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, with soloists Hilda Kazasyan and Vasil Petrov, conducted by Mihail Yosifov.

Classical and Chamber Music – performances by Lyudmil Angelov, Albena Danailova, Trio Image, Tsvetan Nedialkov, Margarita Kalcheva, and others.

Literary Evenings – the premiere presentation of Vladimir Zarev’s latest novel “And I Descended”, alongside readings and discussions with Georgi Gospodinov, Nikola Petrov, Radoslav Bimbalov, and more.

Theatre and Street Performances – productions such as “Venetian Mystery”, “12 Angry Men”, “The Jem Case”, “Elizabeth – The Virgin Queen”, among others.

Cinema Under the Stars – open-air screenings of “Vasko and the Violin”, “Without Wings”, “Flesh”, and more.

Exhibitions – curated shows at the Municipal Art Gallery, including “Europe in Bulgaria”, the 11th Triennial of Stage Poster, and graduation projects from the National Academy of Arts.

For the first time, Apollonia will also feature masterclasses: a violin course with Prof. Svetlin Roussev (30 August – 3 September), and a pop-rock academy led by the supergroup The Foundation (3–6 September), culminating in a live concert on 4 September.

Sozopol comes alive with open-air concerts at the Apollonia Amphitheatre, film nights under the stars on the beach, gallery talks, community theatre shows, and a welcoming townscape. The unique atmosphere blends ancient fortress walls, sea breeze, and artistic happenings into one unforgettable experience.

Tickets are available online via Eventim. For true enthusiasts, the “Golden Ticket” offers priority access to all events. The programme emphasizes continuity, highlighting both established participants and emerging talents.

Apollonia is a recognized cultural engine for Sozopol, firmly established in Bulgaria’s cultural calendar. The festival unites professionals and young artists, fosters intergenerational exchange, and contributes to the creative life of the region.
